Babies Are Cute.

Puppy.

(The puppy we babysat recently.)

Lost In Translation

May 4, 2008

Yesterday, at work, I told a German guy who is in town working that he looked hot.

He blushed and looked down and smiled slightly, and then quietly said thank you.

I meant hot, as in temperature, but his response was enough for me to let it go without correction.

I believe I have singlehandedly convinced him that American girls are much more forward than I ever actually am.

It actually kind of feels like my good deed for that day.

(Plus, he is cute & everyone deserves a bit of an ego boost sometimes. Also, a correction would’ve seemed like I was calling him unattractive, I think.)

The Cutest.

April 27, 2008

As I mentioned before, there’s a beagle puppy staying here for a bit. And isn’t she cute?

babysitting.

Also, Toby is quite the handsome devil & really should’ve been a professional model.

biggest. smile. ever.

Now, play spot the beagle. Little dude was OBSESSED with finding a way to sniff the top of that fig tree. At one point, all four paws were standing on a different branch.

spot the beagle in a tree.

Hey, remember that time I didn’t post anything for almost a week? Yeah, that was no fun. Sorry. I’m back now.

So, uh… I started twittering. I’m sarahblackstock over there (and in real life, except there’s a space in between the names, obviously).

A six month old beagle is staying next door with my grandparents for a few days & Toby loves nothing more than watching her every move while he wags his tail constantly. He is the most gentle, sweet dog in all the land and it’s cute to see him interact with this little dog that he realizes is a baby and must be handled with care. I’m going to try to get a few photos of them together, but it’s supposed to rain for the rest of the time she’s here, so I’m not sure how that plan will pan out.

I’ve made lots of travel plans recently! I’m going to The Netherlands for a few weeks sometime in May. Need to make definite plans soon. I’m going to Washington, D.C. in June for a four day weekend. Yay! Monuments! Tours! Museums! Meet-up with some crafty pals! My mom is taking me on a family vacation sometime in July to an as-yet-undetermined location. We were considering Disney, but decided to hold off for a less peak time & are thinking we might like to go on a roadtrip around Texas. We’ve lived here forever, and have been to all of the major cities, but have hardly seen anything else in between. I’m researching it a bit now to see if it sounds any good & if there is anywhere we can go that we will enjoy AND will also accept a few dogs tagging along. Lastly, I booked a transatlantic cruise from New York to England in August. (More on that some other time.) Good thing I love to travel and don’t mind airports!

Unfortunately, the last time I flew I got major air sickness (both ways), even thought I’d never had any issues with flying at all before. I’m worried about barfing a million times again during the landing, and even more worried that some poor person will get stuck sitting next to me while I do it. Yikes. I’m on the hunt for some remedies that don’t require a prescription.

BFF

JD: I don’t want you fighting my battles for me. I need to be a strong male role model for Sam.Turk: But dude, that’s my job. Remember? When Sam gets older I teach him about sports and stuff, and you’re in charge of Izzie’s emotional crap. We agreed thats how we’d raise our kids.

JD: Our kids? Turk, we’re not married.

Turk: Dude. We’re a little married.

JD: I know. I love it.

Scrubs. It’s the best. That particular exchange can be viewed (by American readers) on Hulu (S7 E8) around 11 minutes into the episode. It’s a classic example of what makes the show great & why JD & Turk are the best best friends on television.

“Don’t call me Bones.”

April 14, 2008

I recently got really into Bones (the television show, not the, uh, skeleton parts). I’ve seen every episode within the past few weeks & caught up in time to watch the new one on television tonight. I didn’t give it a chance earlier because there were so many procedural crime dramas coming on back when it started and I was bored of them. But! This show is totally different. I really, really like the two main characters, as well as the team in the lab backing them up. Bones (the genius Forensic Anthropologist) is very literal and logical, sometimes to a fault — but it usually results in some pretty awkwardly funny verbal exchanges. Booth (the man’s man, good guy FBI Special Agent) is basically the exact opposite. They make a great team.
